The last two lines at the bottom really summed up the message of your poem.
"In the end, it is better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone, no matter how much you love them."
^This is so very true and something everyone should read. You are absolutely right.

Your poems are fantastic and real. Things don't go as planned in love. But I can tell you for a fact somehow , someway love finds you in time. The real deep kind of love that we dream of

Ohh wow really love the poem. made me think back when i was stuck in this situation and had to let it all go.
"you know i love you
but it's time for me to step on my heart
i have lost many people in this life
and i've become a master at this art"
despite the fact we love that person, we have to let go all ties. it pains us but it a must. it cruel but that's the grim reality of life. become a master at this art, must of been through a lot of heartbreaks to become a master at this, truly painful.
"you see, you were everything to me
i even put your interest before mine
god knows what i went through for your sake
when i kept telling you i was perfectly fine"
when you love someone you out them before yourself, totally true, despite the fact only god know is sad, they need to understand what you're doing for them and need to appreciate all that you've done for them
"i loved you more than anything
don't get me wrong i really still do
but reality is so different from what i've dreamed you'd be
i finally saw the other part of you"
to finally see their true nature, and knowing they don't really love you is truly a pain which one can't describe. but we try to justify that and prove our love hoping they love you.
"i'm afraid i cannot throw all of my dreams
for a man who wants me as a slave
i am not one to give in to love's prison
even though it is love that i badly crave"
love isn't love if that persons want to keep you locked up and only to himself. love is something we need to share with others and not to be kept to one person. it creates tons of complications and distrust if your love isn't shared with others.
"but you do know i love you
that is why i have to set you free
you are a good man and i know it
but you just have to let me be"
it's painful but if you really do love that person you gotta let them go and move on with life. you have to accept it and be happy that you once had something special and part ways and hope for the best.

because i am not one to be bound by it's chain"
it seems love always led to pain, it's like a test that god has put us through but despite all the hurt, this will lead us to find a perfect soul mate. we endure all this so once we find that person we will know what to do right. it's hard to let go a person we love so much, but they want to bound your heart to chains then you gotta get free. cuz you give your heart to another but it doesn't mean they need to bound it to chains.
well this is my first time i did an analytic on a poem. just had to cuz i could relate so much to it. i learned a lot from it, keep it up 5/5
