by Daniel Mulvany
If I had the chance, could make the choice,
To see your face and hear your voice,
But one sweet day, just one sweet day more,
To get to know the girl behind,
Such warm blue eyes, a smile so kind,
Oh the depths of you I would explore.
If I weren't made to go away,
I'd wish to spend each coming day,
Showing you each fragile piece of me.
We'd break down walls around my heart,
And gather every piece and part,
To cast into an unforgiving sea.
But time has passed and ends my stay,
So tonight I'll hope and pray,
That I'll see you again another time.
I hope it not, but probably so,
You'll forget me when I go,
And all of this will be but wasted rhyme.
Your life is better without me.
I try to leave and let it be,
Yet have this yearning; oh what is it for?
I'm not sure but I'll pretend,
I will see this place again,
So I can spend with you one sweet day more.
You may never know how it feels to meet someone who seems so perfect for you. But even worse, when you do, to know that it will probably never work. But here's the question...
Do you still try...? Or do you just wish you were a person good enough for them...?
I'll never be good enough for her, and am perhaps too afraid of rejection to try.
Is it stupid to know a person 2 days and not be able to stop thinking of them and the what ifs?
I'll be fighting myself for a long time.
I want to remember this time, yet sadly, I'll never be able to forget...
