by Ann Marie
Night time is the hardest
As the world drifts off to sleep
Busy minds are laid to rest
Dry eyes have time to weep
Empty arms reach out to nothing
Lonely hearts are left to break
Trembling hands clasped in prayer
Begging God to remove the ache
Restless heads upon the pillow
Fraught with anxious dreams
Wondering when joy will return
Knowing it's sooner than it seems
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"
Echoes incessantly
"Presence makes the bond grow stronger"
Hearts argue defiantly
Comforting Savior promises all
Their sorrows he does know
Promising peace and grace to endure
If to His throne they go
Heartaches cast at Jesus' feet
Loneliness left outside His door
Claiming promises that He made
Fills hearts with joy once more
