The Sigh

Just lying by the pond
reading a book
then a gentle kiss
and the day goes on
so they both leave happy

they meet up in school
the next day
sitting near each other
outside on the bleachers
when slyly he tries
to climb to second base
but she refuses
...its only been a month
she said
and she hears a small sigh

but the next day
he doesn't show
and he leaves no message

she goes to his house
...but no car
and the phones don't work
she doesn't know why

a few more days pass
as she just sits in school
staring at the door
just anxious...
she lies on her bed
about to cry
again...
when her grandma knocks,
and hands her some pants
that she washed,
but she also hands her a note
that got washed

she unfolds it,
and can only make out
"there is someone else"
as she cried
