Those Words

As we lay down,
With my head on his chest.
My eyes grow heavy,
my breath grows steady.

He puts his arms around me.
Whispers "Are you awake?"
I nod my head and snuggle closer.
He clears his throat and speaks.

"I know you might not believe me,
But don't ignore what I have to say,
You mean to me as much as I mean to you."
Those are the best words to fall asleep to.

I can't believe he said those words.
It's to good to be true.
I've wanted to hear him say that for so long.
My heart is beating so fast.

I can't explain the feeling I have.
I'm bursting with happiness.
All I want is to be with him.
And hear him say those words once more.
