Autumn Song

by Skyfire

Sleepy eyes and drowsy hands are tracing fire,
as your fingers dance across my knee,
you read my palm as I lean in
just breathin
to the lull of your voice,

A sky the color of old wine,
crisp and fine and light,
I taste the years on your breath
whispered secrets as you sing

Some days, it feels like autumn inside
the air turns gold
and I just want your hand to hold
You're singing, some days,
words like water on your tongue
I'm feelin young and bright and bold
and I just want your hand to hold.

I write poems, I sing songs,
nothing pulls me along like your touch
I'm just trying to catch your fingers again
I'm mesmerized as you sing

Some days, it feels like autumn inside
the air turns gold
and I just want your hand to hold
You're singing, some days,
words like water on your tongue
I'm feelin young and bright and bold
and I just want your hand to hold.

I've been through a million and found my odds
I've lost my head, my breath, my heart
irreversibly and inexplicably,
I'm listening once again
as you sing

Some days, it feels like autumn inside
the air turns gold
and I just want your hand to hold
You're singing, some days,
words like water on your tongue
I'm feelin young and bright and bold
and I just want your hand to hold.

I'm feelin young and bright and bold
and I just want, just want your hand to hold...
