Inspired by Claude Monet's "Impression, Sunrise"
My lover the sailor
On ev'nings rare
We'd meet together
For fish and chips fare
He'd leave in the morning
Our precious time short
But to keep me company
'til the next time he'd port
He said,
The impression: sunrise
Just wait for me then
I'll be there, don't worry
My love won't end
Though I leave at sunset
And m'soul demands I go
The impression: sunrise
Watch the horizon's glow
My lover the sailor
Tried hard in deed.
But I knew his first love
Was the sea, not me
I'd see him in the morning
But not ev'ry, as sworn
But to keep me company
'til the next time he'd port
He said,
The impression: sunrise
Just wait for me then
I'll be there, don't worry
My love won't end
Though I leave at sunset
And m'soul demands I go
The impression: sunrise
Watch the horizon's glow
And then one day after many had passed
Long beyond all hope should last
I let the flame flicker and die
The sea had claimed her Lorelei
The impression: sunrise
Just wait for me then
I'll be there, don't worry
My love won't end
Though I leave at sunset
And m'soul demands I go
The impression: sunrise
Watch the horizon's glow
