July 25th

by Maple Tree

Come rest with me, set us free
within a field of lavender.

Freshly sweet, tickling my feet,
our kisses ignite true love at dawn.

Cascading sun allows me to run,
as I whisper good morning to you.

Take me away, so we can play,
for I desire a delicate embrace.

Reading the calender,
meet me on the lawn,
you will know what to do,
I'll be waiting, with a smile on my face.

Special Note: Written for James, celebrating our upcoming wedding anniversary.

This poem has a mixture of rhyme schemes.

Whenever you write about love, my heart dances naked.

I love you, Andrea :)

Andrea,

It is going to be weird going up against you in the challenge since you are an amazing writer and an inspiration.

Firstly I love poems that describe a date or time and place. I feel that it becomes more personal to the writer and also makes the reader wonder what is special about that date before even reading the poem. In my mind I thought it may have had something to do with your hubby which I thought was nice. I hadn't paid attention to the background colour when reading (sometimes that happens) and then I read your note in the end which is beautiful. Congratulations on your anniversary :">

I like that you have mixed the rhyming schemes on this poem. It is like having a whole bunch of poems rolled into one. I love the images you have set for us. The way you talk just shows us how special this day is for you as well as how special your hubby is to you, and that is also what makes it personal.

I completely enjoyed the read. It was awesome.

Andrea,

I really love this poem. I think that James must stop challenging you, ha? Haha. I wish you guys spend a life full of love and laughter. I began now to feel what it's like to fall in love, sigh, haha. I don't know if it has passed but I wish you have/had a very lovely one with so much romance and so much gifts and grnaddaughters, grandsons all over the place, haha!

I seriously wish you all the best, lovely Tree. :)
