Challenging Fate

by Kobe

I watch you from across the room,
Taking in your smile, your laugh,
Remembering the times those smiles were meant for me,
And when your eyes meet mine,
My heat skips a beat and my breath catches in my throat.

It wasn't long ago when you were my world,
And I was yours,
Or so you said,
I never thought those times would change,
But I was wrong, and so I cried.

Fate obviously didn't plan for you and I,
I thought fate could be changed,
Don't we control our own lives?
Obviously you and I just weren't strong enough,
To overpower the lady of fate.

I'm still trying to hide my affections,
But I still get lost in your eyes,
I act like a fool when I'm near you,
It's all your fault that I can't get over you,
It's all in your smile.
