A love unrequited

by TrUtH hUrTs

Clouds drifted over a winter's day,
Staining the idle sunshine in a sepia wreath,
Slowly, it diffused into the skies,
Like the quiet tears caught in her breath

She waited for him like a child,
Impatient, restless, fervent.
She waited, like velvet darkness
Forsaken, desolate, insatiable

She waited, a woman possessed,
Trapped in a fistful of dreams
Twisted beyond recognition
Lost in the afterglow,
Of a forbidden infatuation

He crept towards her,
Like the shadows at twilight
And they stood together in their solitude
A wretched solitude bleeding white
They were one, because they were broken
They were broken because they were one,

The whispering zephyr framed them forever,
Upon a fleck of aluminum daylight
The warmth of a smile,
Tinged the softness of his eyes
While the thoughts of a stolen kiss
Hung at the corners of her lips
The moment passed, the spell was broken
They walked away, a love unrequited

Clouds drifted over a winter's day,
Staining the idle sunshine in a sepia wreath,
Slowly, it diffused into the skies,
Like the quiet tears caught in her breath
