Delusions of a hopeless romantic

by Victor

I had to imagine you

You were fantasy and fantasy you'll be always

Always my youthful naivety kept me elsewhere

Elsewhere I would have remained unaware

Unaware of what I had been gifted

Gifted with fortuity etched in callous uncertainty
Uncertainty beckons me forth again

Again I find myself tenderly held

Held afloat by a tide of feigned emotions within
Within I discern the irrevocable hollowness endured
Endured far too long, latent lacerations embellish my skin

Skin to skin, I lie awake, as my thoughts drift slowly

Slowly I begin to panic, as my consciousness fumes in fear

Fear not in loves kiss, and allow it's breath to envelop your light

Light my path lush beauty, convey to me your deepest desire

Desire kindles the burgeoning flame, embers left yet to burn
Burn me gently with your carnal sincerity

Sincerity so refreshing, genuine heart
Heart in reeling, captivated by the purity in your angelic grace

Grace in essence, in your absence I am adrift

Adrift I find myself once again, craving your touch
Touch so endearing I return to my fantasy
Fantasy you have been far too long

Long for you I must, enduring my delusions of romance

The style of this is intriguing. Recycling the final word in each line to recreate a new sentence that flows on so well must be quite challenging, and you've pulled it off here. I love the content of the piece, too. Well written and original. 5/5

Thank you so much, I've only just started writing poetry as a regular hobby so your kind words are very much appreciated!

Hello victor and welcome to P&Qs

I have to agree completely with Ether as this is original and must be hard work recycling the words to recreate a brand new line that flows on so well but you mastered it.
