How Joyous It Would Be

by Mark

How joyous it would be
If I were loved by thee
Alike a flame - once lost in me,
If then thou-st were to marry me
Oh my vows - a worldly spree!
Of how much I love thee.
Even though thine heart may be
A far distant star away from me
As far as a star can be.

How joyous it would be
If we were to live by the sea
There, coveted by me
Would you be enriched and free;
Listening to pearly shells by the sea
Echoing my love for thee.
Even though thine heart may be
Sunken deep in the salty sea
As salty as the deep can be.

How joyous it would be
To view my love alike a tree
For you to climb as high as can be
Each branch; my arm around thee
For you to swing upon me,
Thy breath my wind - I shelter thee.
Even though thine heart may be
Alike a drifting leaf off a tree
As drifting as a shed leaf can be.

How joyous it would be
If at my end - I would be by thee
My last breath for thou-st to see
My eyes closed I whispered thee
Last adoring words; I love thee
With all I am and ever will be.
Even though thine heart may be
Alike a gull soaring above our sea
Soaring away from me.
