Read Love Poems

by CJ Maleney

You cannot fly with but one wing
Without your voice you cannot sing
Without your legs you cannot walk
So much to voice, you cannot talk

Though you have lungs, you cannot breath
chest compressed, lungs are squeezed
Into yourself you do retreat
The thundering sound of your own heartbeat

Like the favorite shoes you so love to wear
Some things are best when they are pairs
Like the wings of a dove or star crossed lovers

One's no good without the other.
