Don't promise me a future
Don't lay down hope for me
Let's just stay in 'here and now'
I beg your empathy

When you whisper new beginnings
When you plan our 'forever'
My heart it does a little dance
It so longs for 'together'

But reality stains the edges
Real life is harsh and cruel
'Cos you're stuck there as I am here
And probably always will

So let's live for the moments
We steal from our trapped life
But don't let me dream the impossible
Don't say - "when you're my wife ..."
