Love (just something I needed to write)

Love

A simple four letter word
easily used
often misused

I know I've been there, done that -
ashamed to admit it but I've also
been on the receiving end too.

I've been taught love the hard way
in that I mean, I've been abused,
thought it was love and stayed -
I was one of the lucky ones.

I searched for love,
finding lust on many occasions
having one night stands to compensate

now;

I can honestly
hand on heart
girl scout honour
shout it from the rooftops:

"I'm in love with you"

for when we're apart my heart feels torn
and when we're together, it's complete,
for you my sweetheart, you complete me.
