Not ready

I guess you were not ready
For all I had to give
For my heart which was forever
For the life I wanted to live

I guess you were not ready
For the fears I had inside
For the pain that I would hide
For the tears that I would cry

I guess you were not ready
To trust me with your heart
I wish you would’ve told me
Before mine was ripped apart

I guess you were not ready
You told me so yourself
That by loving you you’d hurt me,
And to find somebody else

I guess you were not ready
To place your hand in mine
To let our two hearts shine
Together intertwined

I guess that we were not ready
And that I too clearly see
I was ready to love you but
Were you ready to love me?
