So little time has been spent together,
Yet so many tears have fallen from her.
His past is a memory that haunts the present,
Causing the happiness to become bent.

She takes his breath away with every kiss,
But fights climb out of the abyss.
So much potential for love to sprout,
His past interferes leaving the doubt.

Her eyes glisten like a night star,
Yet his words always leave a scar.
He cares for her like he has none before,
Yet he trembles of fear to the core.

So many times has his past won,
Leaving him to think he was done.
Life always left him doubting happiness,
Making him struggle through the abyss.

Now the darkness is fading away,
As the sorrow runs from the day.
He will fight the night with all his heart,
With her he is given yet another start.
