Praying for the Sunrise
Sleep eludes me
My blanket tossed in disarray
Another night of loneliness
is upon me.
Countless times
I have been awaken from dreams
Too painful to remember
Yet I must.
Upon broken promises
I tend the heart that has forsaken me
It dwells within this soul
that now weeps.
A constant battle of wills
Between heart and soul and mind
Now from the depths of night
I pray for the sunrise.
Hidden just beyond
Thoughts that have clouded my choices
By the memories of what we shared
but will never have again.
Distant, is the light
That breaks the darkness that has come
Ever so slowly into my mind
it will drift... if given time.
