We sat on my bed
Let's talk "us" I said
How I hate being here all alone
My heart breaks each day
That you are away
With only your voice on the phone.

I poured out my soul to you
Promised that I'd be true
I was so sure that you'd see
The great love in my eyes
And with no great surprise
What was missing in your life was me.

In the silence then I waited
Held my breath anticipated
But you uttered not a solitary word
